林教授多年來從事於多方面之熱力學與生物技術相關領域的研究，目前進行中的研究計畫包括了熱力性質與輸送性質的量測與關聯，尤其著重於相平衡, 同時他也積極參與超臨界流體應用，生質能源，反應性蒸餾程序及分離技術研發的基礎研究。
