Research Summary:
With the rapid industrialization and urbanization, our life is getting more and more convenient than ever. However, challenges associated with this rapid growth of modernization have gradually appeared, such as environmental pollutions, energy crises and recalcitrant diseases. Research efforts in our laboratory are focused on the development and application of new approaches and biomolecular tools that are driven by the principles underlying Mother Nature to address those challenges. Current research topics are summarized below.
- Bioinspired engineering for the regulation of protein or enzyme synthesis
- Protein modules toward the recovery of precious metal ions from wastewater streams.
- Synthetic biology for creating smart microbes that can seek and destroy environmental pollutants.
- Next generation biosensors for environmental monitoring and clinical diagnostics.
- High-throughput methods for antimicrobial peptide screening.
