Professor Shiau’s major research interests are in the preparations and characterization of nano-sized catalysts and oxygen ionic conductors, both mainly for fuel cell application. In the catalyst area, we are focus on the copper series catalysts. Copper series catalysts can be applied not only on the synthesis of intermediates for special chemicals but also on the hydrogen production from methanol reforming and water gas shift reaction. Oxygen ionic conductor can be applied to sensor as well as fuel cell. Both catalyst powder and oxygen ionic conductor powder are prepared by sol-gel method. The research is focused on the preparing conditions for the synthesis of both powders and its effect on the application. |
